Twitter’s Alex Payne’s desk hack

Apple recently profiled Twitter. You don’t learn a thing about Twitter or Apple in that cute video, but you get a good look at Twitter’s offices.

In one shot, I noticed that Alex Payne, the lead developper, seems to have a modified desk so he can work in a standing position. I emailed him about it, asking for more details.

Our desks at Twitter are custom made: they’re all wood, and the tops are supported by a simple base with some built-in shelving. I simply took two of these bottom shelving units and stacked them in such a way that I could stand at the desk. Call it a “desk hack” ;)

Great idea.
