I’m relatively new to twitter. Since I’ve been lazy on the blog updates lately, I decided to post more frequently on twitter and to use a WordPress plug-in (the excellent Twitter tools) to post here the daily summaries of my tweets. Having said that, here is my advice to wannabe twitterers.
Top 5 things you must expect to spend a lot of time on if you opened up a Twitter account today:
- Try 10 different twitter clients for your computer. Choose the one you prefer. Delete 9 others.
- Try 5 different twitter clients for your iPhone. Choose the one your prefer. Delete 4 others.
- Add 50 friends to follow. Realize that you are unable to keep up with the amount of tweets per day. Delete most of them and keep only the really interesting ones.
- Learn how to express an idea in 140 characters or less. Practice is the key.
- Setup multiple plug-ins and tools to cross-post your tweets to your blog, facebook status, Adium status, ICQ Status, scrolling LED belt buckle … etc. etc. etc. Actually, I don’t like cross-posting at all and should write something about it soon.
Congratulations! 3 weeks after setting up your account, you are finally ready to post your first tweet!
